Governor's Hat

This hat belonged to Herbert "Bert" Buckley, Governor II. at Central Prison Pentridge.

The white cap was worn by all governors at all prisons in Victoria, also by the Commissioner and Director. All other prison officers wore a blue hat/cap.

Buckley became Governor grade II Pentridge 1976 -1981, where he wrote the booklet H.M. Central Sub Prison Pentridge : life behind the bluestone walls from 1800's-1980's (1) written and compiled by Bert Buckley ; designed and edited by Bob Johnson.
