Replica of execution beam
.png)
Replica execution beam from D Division gallows. Installed in the former gallows area after the removal of the original execution beam and trapdoor mechanism.
Used for the interpretation of the gallows during public tours in 1998 of Pentridge Prison's D Division.
The beam remains in situ but is not publicly accessible.
The following article was published in Newsletter No. 19 of the Pentridge Prison Online Museum and explores the history of the original execution beam, its removal following the abolition of capital punishment, and the later installation of a replica beam in the former D Division gallows area.
