Artist: Doug Russell, former B Division prisoner
Date of creation: January 1974
Doug Russell was sentenced for armed robbery. He created this painting depicting a prisoner while he was incarcerated in Pentridge's B Division.
Doug gifted his artwork to Barry Ellem who was a lecturer in the Applied Sociology Department at Caulfield Institute of Technology at the time. He took it to all his classes, to help his students understand what prison felt like.
